A mass spectrometer displays the masses of different particles in a gaseous sample, and the relative abundance of those particles.

To begin, select a sample from the Options menu. if desired, adjust the ratio of the isotopes in the sample by moving the the arms on the pie chart. To scan the sample, click the Scan button. The Clear button clears the current sample from the spectrometer and allows the use to change the ratio of the sample.

The spectrum check box shows what a spectrum would look like for the selected sample with the isotope ratio you have chosen. Once the spectrum is showing, you can zoom in on it. The Reset Zoom button returns the image to the original spectrum
