Human Impact

Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution humanity has been releasing gigatons of carbon into the atmosphere from the long-term carbon cycle fossil fuel reservoir. In the process we are adding a flux to the global carbon cycle. This activity is altering the natural balance of the global carbon cycle.

Each day we rely on infrastructure and activities that depend on power from processes that release carbon from its storage in the long term cycle. These include air conditioning, heating, transportation and production of many goods and services.

Due to the long timescale of some of the processes
