The Oceans

Oceans cover vast areas of the earth's surface and are a significant carbon reservoir. Through the massive size of the oceans makes them seem immune to change, the complex carbon chemistry that takes place within the oceans and between the oceans and the atmosphere is surprisingly sensitive to alterations in the balance of the global carbon cycle.

Click on the arrows on the side of this page to explore the way in which the oceans are involved in and affected by the global carbon cycle.
